Immunisation is the most effective way to actively protect your child from preventable diseases. Very young children are particularly at risk of becoming sick, because their immune system lacks experience and is unable respond quickly. Many of the diseases that immunisation protects us from are very serious in young children. Immunisations on the New Zealand schedule are free for children 18 years and under.
In New Zealand, parents and caregivers have the right to make informed decisions regarding their children's immunisations. Making informed decisions means being able to find and understand relevant information, be given the opportunity to discuss it, and make the decision that is right for you and your family.
Our nurses are experienced in all aspects of immunisation and feel privileged to discuss this important decision with you.
